Vitale Olive Oil Hair Mayonnaise Review

I think I have found the one. Where do I begin? I used this product before but it was so long ago I forgot how it worked. Anyways, this product is cost effective. Thirty (30) ounces for under 25 dollars you cannot beat that. It left my hair feeling very soft, manageable and strengthened at the same time. I Love it!!Yes!! I love it!!!Oh! I saw reviews where people complained about the flakes. Once you rinse your hair properly that should not be an issue. It smells good too. You should definitely get this. It's a keeper!!!

Good hair is healthy hair

"Oh! Look at the girl next door. She has "good" hair. I wish I had good hair." Statements like such just makes me raise a brow. I would not sit here and act like those words never came from my mouth. Yes!I was once ignorant, but  after endless research I realized that we all can have "good" hair. Your hair type does not define the "goodness" of your hair, it may only state that it is more manageable but nothing further. The length of ones hair does not ALWAYS define goodness of your hair neither. With that being said there are short healthy hair and there are long hair that is unhealthy. Simply put the health of your hair speaks of its goodness.

Many of us want long thick hair but do not want to put in the work. That is simply putting the cart before the horse. When you are on a hair journey it is never one or the other it must be both.In order to have that "good" hair you must first strive for healthier hair. You must stop all practices that do a disservice to your lovely tresses. Good hair is in each of us reach, we just need to want it bad enough to reach out and grab it. Do remember that you must seek health first and all things would be added, such as that thickness  and or length that you so desire. But remember

"Healthy hair will always turn heads even at ear length."~ Sdestra

Organics Cholesterol Tea-Tree Oil Review

I guess second chances or even third chances are best. So I gave this conditioner a do over and a do over. The first time I tried it I hated it. I am here sitting wondering where did I went wrong. The first time I used it stuck to my hair like metal and magnet but today that was not the case. I  condemned it for pre-poos only, because the last time I clarified I used to it as a pre treatment which left my hair soft after clarifying my hair. Today I had nothing else that would have given me the right amount of moisture, so I decided to take this bad boy for a spin. I added some Coconut and Olive Oil to it and deep conditioned under my dryer for 25 minutes. It rinsed clean without leaving any build up and the end result was good. My hair felt strong and moisturized. Additionally, Detangling was a breeze, I had little to no shedding. I was happy as a Clam!!I guess I needed to kick this conditioner up a notch in order to make it work for me. Why not tell a friend?

Wash day (1 week post)

Well you know the drill if you've been following this blog. I...

Got Mineral oil?

Since I started my hair journey I have been hearing mixed argument about mineral oil. Some avoid it completely while some do not. Mineral Oil can be seen as a sealant which means it cannot penetrate into our hair shaft. Sealants either can lock in or lock out. Therefore, all is not lost when it comes to Mineral Oil. I do not hate Mineral Oil. Actually a lot of products in my regimen contain mineral oil. Personally, I think it is okay for Mineral Oil to be present in moisturizers, deep conditioners and hair pomades. So you know I am a big mineral oil user and yet I  have healthy and beautiful hair. So if you are not experiencing any negatives embrace it despite the hype. My hair is reacting well to mineral oil so I doubt I would swap it out. SO until then...ALL HAIL MINERAL OIL!!!!

Can I over deep condition?

Can you over deep condition your hair? Yes and No!!

Why yes?  You can over deep condition if you do not learn to balance your conditioners. The extremities of deep conditioning are protein and moisture overload.

Why not? I think that the hair cannot get enough goodness. If you have damaged hair deep conditioning would nurse it back to health while on the other hand if your hair is healthy deep conditioning would maintain its health. Yet, you need to strike a balance. Once there is balance you can never over deep condition.

Moisture overload is where the hair received more moisture than it needs. How can you detect this? If your hair is very mushy, limp and stretchy. The primary purpose of moisture is to provide our hair with elasticity so it does not snap and break when we manipulate our hair. Hair that is loaded with moisture would pop quite easily because it has too much elasticity. How can I you combat this? Well hair experts claims that moisture overload is easier to correct than protein overload. A protein treatment can help to restore the balance if your hair is moisture overload.

Since you know what moisture overload is surely you grasp the idea of how protein overload occurs. Protein overload features dry, brittle and hard hair which breaks when manipulated because of the lack of elasticity. As you may have figured, protein primary purpose is to strengthen the hair to withstand chemical manipulation especially. That is why it is said that relaxed hair need more protein than someone who is natural, because of the fact that chemicals depletes the natural protein  in our hair so we need to replenish it to keep our hair strong to prevent breakage. Even though relaxed hair requires more protein, we can still suffer from protein overload. It is harder to recover from such mishap so it is best to take preventative measures when it comes to protein. You should pay attention to the ingredients of your products in your regimen to ensure your stash is not solely protein base. Also when you do a protein treatment it is wise to follow up with a moisturizing treatment just to be on the safe side. You can also find conditioners that contain both protein and moisture for regular and safe use.

I thee wed...

Do you know the saying "know better do better"?  Well I haven't!!I must admit that I know heat is vital especially when conditioning our hair . But lately I could not be bothered...So from this day forth I thee wed to pre-poo and deep condition with heat until... To keep things short and simple. Heat using a hooded dryer or Conditioning  Cap is  beneficial where it allows for deeper penetration  of all that rich goodness we slap onto our hair. So you should try using heat, so that your conditioners do not just sit on top of your hair strand.

Tips for thicker hair

What do you desire? I am not hearing you. A little bit louder please. I said louder!!!!!Oh! Thicker hair!!???!! There is no shame in wanting thicker hair. If you ask me I think it is every woman's desire to have thicker and luscious tress. I hope your prayers are answered here. For thicker hair you need to do the following;

  1. 1.Stop all things that contributes to the demise of your "mane squeeze". Yes! All that heat, over processing and excess manipulation must end here. Why not try relaxing only your new growth and even do a roller set? Change is good!

     2. If you are not using Caster Oil you need to start. It known for thickening the hair and aiding    with growth.

3. Utilize protein treatments since protein causes the hair strands to swell since proteins' primary purpose is to strengthen the hair.

4. Pre-poo with Coconut Oil because this works hand in hand with Protein where it prevents it from being lost.

5. And make sure to keep that deep conditioning up!

Wash day (preparing for a relaxer)

1. Pre-pooed for 1 hour using Coconut Oil.

2. Shampoo 3 times using Hawaiian Silky Herbal Conditioning Shampoo.

3.Protein treatment for 45 minutes.

4.Deep conditioned using Hawaiian Silky Herbal Hair Repairing Conditioner.

5. Applied leave-in (Hawaiian Silky Herbal Leave-in Conditioner)

6. Detangled and Roller set using the cool setting.

So why do a treatment before your relaxer? Remember the relaxer breaks down the Protein bonds in our hair to make it straight. Therefore, adding some Protein helps to strengthen the hair which prepares it for the chemical treatment. I went back in with the moisture just to tip the balance. Look forward to my trip to the salon.
Stay tuned for a length check.:)

Vitale Olive Oil Hair Mayonnaise

I was searching for a conditioner that would strike a balance between moisture and protein in my hair. On my last wash day I conditioned with Organic Root Stimulator Nourishing Conditioner and I loved it. Absolutely love it!! I said that it had out done the Replenishing Conditioner because for one it was not impossible to rinse out. After doing my  research, I discovered that Vitale Olive Oil Mayonnaise is a light protein and has moisturizing components. After accessing my hair I think the balance is 90/10 when it comes to protein and moisture. So you might wonder, what makes a product light, medium or even heavy protein? The ingredients does. This product contains Hydrolyzed Oat Protein  and Hydrolyzed Soy Protein.

  • Hydrolyzed soy protein: Enhances hair manageability, contains cysteine for hair strengthening and nourishment.

  • Hydrolyzed oat protein: us used as a conditioning and moisturizing agent .

It also consist of Olive oil for lubrication, stimulants such as peppermint leaf to enhance your conditioning experience. Sounds good thus far right? Yes, I love the ORS Nourishing Conditioner. Why not continue? Seven (7) dollars per pop. That's way too costy for just little over an ounce of product while on the otherhand Vitale is 30 ounces under 25 dollars. So there you have it. My reasoning is partly economical. Healthy hair without breaking the bank is every girls' dream. However, I used the Vitale Olive Oil Hair Mayonnaise years ago and I am still puzzled as to why I discontinued. Hmmmm! I wonder...Stay tuned for a review.

Ways to boost your deep conditioning experience

The next time you whip out your deep conditioners why not take them up a notch or two. You might be wondering how can I possibly do this. Some if not all of these ingredients you are quite familiar with. They are in your kitchen pantry and your medicine cabinets. So please hear me out.

Our first ingredient is Honey. Yes, I said Honey. I bet you have that in your pantry. Right? Honey is jam packed with many benefits for our luscious tresses. So what exactly are the benefits? Multiple sources stated that Honey is;

  • a natural humectant: helps attract and retain moisture.  Because Honey is a humectant, it holds on to water molecules and this is how it retains the water.
  • anti-irritant: great for sensitive scalp and skin and hair loss.

  • smoothes the cuticle:  The hair feels softer and looks shinier when you add honey to your recipes.

Secondly, Carrier oils can also increase the health of your hair. What are Carrier oils? Carrier oils are also known as base oil or vegetable oil they are usually derived from seeds or nuts. For example Olive Oil, Coconut Oil ,Castor Oil and the list goes on. Carrier oils are said to;
  • Contain Ceramides
  • lock in moisture
  • contains vitamins A, E, D and potassium
  • aid with growth
  • add luster
  • prevents the scalp from drying by retaining moisture
Lastly, Essential Oils are said to be very potent which enhances one's hair health and deep conditioning experience.Oil is considered “essential” in the sense that it carries a distinctive scent, or essence, of the plant from which the oil is extracted. Essential oils are volatile, and are usually derived from the non-seed parts of the plants. Some Essential Oils are Peppermint Oil, Rosemary Oil, Tea tree Oil and the list does not end here. So Essentials oils are said to;
  •  stimulate blood flow to the root of the hair which ultimately leads to growth.
  • help to keep the scalp free of bacteria and fungal problems.
  • treat dry scalp, dandruff, lice, and under-active sebaceous glands.

Deep conditioning

I mentioned that it is not my will to be a product junkie. Over the past few weeks I have experienced new products which I wish to add to my regimen. But of course I do want excess products. Some of my products are still full or half way through. I also want to renovate my regimen especially where deep conditioning is concerned. I want to make it simpler but  effective at same time.Surely I would keep you posted once I cross that bridge.

Lately, I am questioning myself  concerning hair. I have been asking "What is the most important part of your regimen?" After reflecting on my practices, I said deep conditioning. Hence the reason why I want to improve and simplify that aspect of my hair care. Why is deep conditioning the most important part of one's regimen? To avoid the red tape, I would say that it is the time where you restore, repairing, nourish, improve, prevent...so many things in just one step. So do you gather why it is pivotal? For me is when deep conditioning is where you give life by improving the health of your hair. Imagine if you skipped deep conditioning. What would really happen to your hair after so many manipulation? That's for you to ponder!

Cravings continued

Organic Root Stimulator Vital Oils & Nourishing Conditioner

I love them both...So you know its only good news following this sentence. For starters the Organic Root Stimulator Nourishing Conditioner Smells like freshly peeled Bananas. It left my hair  feeling extremely soft and strong. What an oxymoron!!!But it's true it did left my hair feeling that way. It is not too thick compared to the replenishing conditioner. Not that I am comparing Grapes and Apples here but the comparison seems fit. Yes! I would buy more of this to use on a weekly basis. I wish it came in a bottle rather than the little packs. Based on the results I think this product is protein and moisture. The best of both worlds!!!! Moving on... The Vital oil is just yummy yummy yummy!!It smells great also and most importantly it is a very light oil...What more can I say? I am simply happy with these new products.

Wash day (6 weeks post)

1. Pre-pooed with Rosemary oil on my scalp and Coconut oil on the length for 1hour using  my self heating cholesterol cap.

2. Shampooed twice using Hawaiian Silky Conditioning Shampoo.

Updates

Sooooo! I am consistently searching for ways to better care for my hair. So here are some updates or plans...

1. On my next wash day I plan to Pre-poo with Coconut oil and Home-made Rosemary oil. (Still craving my peppermint oil). I also purchased a pack of  Organic Root Stimulator Nourishing Conditioner  that I am also going to be using on my wash day. Ofcourse, I would let you know if it is a keeper or not.

2. In my previous wash day post I made mentioned I was detangling my hair using an afro comb. I got me a Rake comb.Yaaaay!!!Lol!

3. I bought ORS Vital oils for my scalp and to possibly seal after moisturizing.

Stay tuned!!!

So you are due for a relaxer!

1. Avoid hair manipulation especially the scalp which leads to irritation. Getting burns ain't no fun! The week prior to my relaxer I normally put my hair in a bun for that entire week, since Bunning is less manipulation.

2. Over-processing leads to weak & brittle hair that breaks off ultimately. To avoid over-lapping (adding relaxer to relaxed hair) you should coat your already relaxed with an oil or some form of grease  to prevent over-processing

3. After applying and rinsing out your relaxer, you should follow up by applying a neutralizing shampoo to your hair. This would stop the relaxer from processing your hair and restore normal PH levels.

4.Relaxers alter our hair texture by breaking down the protein bonds in our hair. Simply put relaxers strip our hair of protein. It is beneficial to treat your hair with some form of protein treatment to strengthen your hair.

5. Relaxer is a very stressful on our delicate strands so when styling we should choose appropriate means of styling. After a relaxer it is good to avoid direct heat tools because they tend to deprive the hair of its properties. With that being send a roller set is considered to be more appropriate. Yes, roller -setting is heat but the heat is however indirect which makes it more suitable.
