So you are due for a relaxer!

1. Avoid hair manipulation especially the scalp which leads to irritation. Getting burns ain't no fun! The week prior to my relaxer I normally put my hair in a bun for that entire week, since Bunning is less manipulation.

2. Over-processing leads to weak & brittle hair that breaks off ultimately. To avoid over-lapping (adding relaxer to relaxed hair) you should coat your already relaxed with an oil or some form of grease  to prevent over-processing

3. After applying and rinsing out your relaxer, you should follow up by applying a neutralizing shampoo to your hair. This would stop the relaxer from processing your hair and restore normal PH levels.

4.Relaxers alter our hair texture by breaking down the protein bonds in our hair. Simply put relaxers strip our hair of protein. It is beneficial to treat your hair with some form of protein treatment to strengthen your hair.

5. Relaxer is a very stressful on our delicate strands so when styling we should choose appropriate means of styling. After a relaxer it is good to avoid direct heat tools because they tend to deprive the hair of its properties. With that being send a roller set is considered to be more appropriate. Yes, roller -setting is heat but the heat is however indirect which makes it more suitable.
